Coaches Corner

Coach Lea Wallace:

We’ve had quite an exciting start to the season so far. Many of our athletes have walked away from their races with personal best times and it’s not even April!

To continue to progress as the championship season approaches, it’s very important that our athletes maintain their fitness by running and training consistently.

If you cannot make it to practice over Spring Break, continue to run on your own (4-5 miles and strides, 4-5 days a week.).

Please contact me by e-mail (lfwallace1@gmail.com) if you would like me to e-mail you a workout for the week.

Coach David Badovinac:

Rio Sophomore, Aurora Helfrich had a great day in the Varsity Girls Discus at the Metro Invitational on Saturday, March 24th. She won the Girls Discus with a best mark of 99′ 7″. This mark was a PR for Rory by approximately 25′. Also, this mark makes her the #1 ranked girl in Discus in the Capital Athletic League. Congratulations Aurora!

Rio’s “three Amigos” did it again. They dominated at the Metro Invitational on Saturday, March 24th. Jose Miranda won the F/S Boys Shot-put and got 2nd place in the F/S Boys Discus. Amadeus Romero won the F/S Boys Discus (with a big PR) and got 2nd place in the F/S Boys Shot-put. Ty Contreras completed the sweep of medals by getting 3rd place in both F/S Boys Shot-put and Discus.
